| I am sometimes asked to explain what "digital editing" means. So let me try to illustrate the various terms and procedures using the sequence of images below. "Basic editing" will include simple red-eye removal, which most people are familiar with, but may also include some simple colour balancing. | Fig 1. shows the
original image file as captured at the
time, and with an orange 'cast' created by the ambient lighting. Fig
2. shows the same image with the orange 'cast' removed
and 'colour balanced' to appear
more natural. |
Conversion to black and white (Fig
3.) or sepia, is a "standard editing"
feature and an option which can be selected at the time of ordering
prints/cd images. I will usually show some examples of b&w images in your online gallery/preview cd. |

"Full digital editing"
includes all of the above features, and more. In Fig 4.
for example, the unsightly tent pole has been removed to give a clear
canvas backdrop, and in Fig 5.
the image has been cropped to remove other distracting elements and
allow more focus on the facial expressions of the happy couple. For further enquiries about digital editing, please email me. | About Me | Links | Blog | |
